The best and fastest way to post a message to the whole Group is not by using you email programme, but rather by going to the home page of the Group on the SmartGroups web site and clicking Post.

In this way you won’t have to wait for your email provider or your ISP to send the email and you won’t run the risk of mistyping an address.

If you’d rather use email, or you don’t have Web access, then you can send your postings to Groupname@smartgroups.com where Groupname is the exact name of the Group you want to post to i.e. cga-???-studygroup@smartgroups.com, replacing the ??? with your course code.

If you want to reply to a message, just click reply or use the above Group email address.

When posting to the entire Group, you should understand the rules of the Group, see “To Post or Not To Post”.

Note that the Groups are not like chat systems with instant updates of posted messages.   When you post, there can be a delay as the email winds its way through the internet.   Some Groups are approval-moderated, so the message has to be approved by the human moderator before it is sent out to the Group.

If you post a message and it seems that nothing has happened, a possible problem is the browser cache on your computer, if you are viewing messages at the Group’s web site, is not set to check for new versions during the same session.   Click [refresh] or [reload] in your browser to make sure you are looking at the current Web page.
