Unsubscribing from a Group

There are two ways to unsubscribe from a group: via email or using this Web site. There are also ways to remain a member but reduce or eliminate the group email messages.

To unsubscribe via email, send an blank email to groupname-unsubscribe@smartgroups.com where groupname is the exact name of the group. If you’re unsure about the group name, consult the message header at the top of an email from the group. Be sure your email program is adjusted to send mail from the address you want unsubscribed. If you are not sure what address you are subscribed as, you will find the address used to reach you in the "Return-Path" header of the message you received.

If the email method does not prove to process your unsubscribe request, you will need to unsubscribe via the web method.

To unsubscribe via the Web:  

Via the Study Group Resource Site:

  • Go to the Subscribe Page of the Study Group you wish to unsubscribe from.
  • Click on the "Unsubscribe" link at the BOTTOM of the page and follow the instructions that will follow.

Via the SmartGroups site:

  • Go to SmartGroups  
  • Login in using your email address and password.
  • Click on the Group name that you wish to unsubscribe from.
  • Select "Leave Group" in the Menu area on the left hand side of the screen.

Alternatively you may wish to remain a member of the Study Group, but cut down on the volume of email that you may be receiving. In the "Email Delivery" drop-down box, you can select "Daily" to receive periodic digests via email. Select "Web only" to remain subscribed to the group and view messages on the group's home page but not receive email from the group.
